Conflict in the Workplace

ADDRESSING CONFLICT IN THE HUMANITARIAN WORKPLACE

Overview

Conflict is a natural by-product of human interaction in the workplace. It has the potential to drive creativity or to upset relationships. Differences in working style, perceptions or goals are always present. Managing theses dynamics requires specific skills and approaches, particularly when working in highly-pressured and potentially unstable humanitarian environments.

Aim and Objectives

The purpose of this workshop is for participants to develop different approaches to conflict management through practicing the principles and processes that help ensure conflict interventions remain neutral and productive. Whether one is a manager or team leader, needing to play the role of informal mediator to team members, or whether one needs to intervene in a conflict between colleagues, or even if one is one of two parties involved in conflicting situations, this workshop will build upon participants experiences and develop skills in designing and leading interventions more proactively at the earliest stages, thus preventing the situation to build into more serious conflicts.
