About us

The Centre for Humanitarian Psychology (CHP) is a Geneva-based, non-profit Swiss foundation which has been working internationally for the last ten years, providing its expertise in the area of Humanitarian Psychology to many agencies.

Taking into account the deteriorating security situation in which humanitarian and UN agency staff frequently operate, together with the increased emphasis on health promotion and education by health and human resources departments, there is a growing need to provide expertise in the area of Humanitarian Psychology and assistance to all those working in this arena.

The CHP provides support to all those who work in humanitarian contexts, be they international or national staff, diplomatic personnel, journalists, peacekeepers Its philosophy is to help relief workers develop their resilience and coping skills, which will enable them to deal with challenges that they encounter with more confidence and give psychosocial support to beneficiaries in the most professional way. We believe that those who work to improve the conditions of others are entitled to operate in the best possible circumstances in order to provide quality assistance.
The CHP provides professional tools to protect and promote mental health of all victims.

The CHP works through a network of professionals who are both psychologists and familiar with humanitarian work, trainers, partners and volunteers, in Europe and in the field.
